Current Events
Dj Pencil has over 25 years experience as a radio dj with shows previously broadcast on Ministry Of Sound Radio, Fire FM and Radio 1 Xtra. He has continued throughout his career to champion new music and has a wealth of experience in this industry. After a 5 year hiatus he started presenting a uk garage show on his local radio station "Hot FM" and from there has syndicated the show to 3 other stations across the country , Pure FM in london and Afrodisiak and State Of the Art Radio both broadcast online. On the show he only plays new Uk Garage showcasing upcoming artists and hosting interviews with current djs and producers in the scene. Countless guest djs have appeared on the show, Bryan Keys Tharme, Dj Oxide, DJ Bvnquet along with many more. Being on most of the record labels mailing lists means he gets exclusive music that you wont hear on other peoples shows. You will also hear exclusive new tracks that he has made with the Cut Up Boys before anyone else has heard them. The radio show now is in its 5th year and going from strength to strength.
Previous Events
For the First time in Step2 History we have been given control of an arena at a new festival based in Dorset. This festival has some major acts appearing over the 3 day event and we were really happy to be invited to curate one of the arenas. We had brought the best and the brightest of the New School UK Garage Djs.
We also included UK Garage Royalty Ed Case. Ed case is one of the godfathers of the UK Garage scene with tracks appearing in the top 40 in the UK charts such as his remix of Gorillaz - "Clint Eastwood" and Sweetie Ire's track "Who" to name a few.
Daffy is one of the up and coming stars of the New School UK Garage Scene with tracks appearing on Time Is Now, ec2a and has appeared on Step2 records a few times to boot. His sound is an infectious take on Speed Garage and has many events under his belt.
The other headline act to appear was The Cut Up Boys who have had shows on Radio1 and have also countless releases on Ministry Of Sound with top 10 chart success for their legendary "Mash Up" albums.
This was one hell of a party. We had some Step2 Dj's/ Producers coming to join us for this event in the sunny Jurassic Coast, such as a special B2B set from Crucial Todd and DJ Pencil , and another B2B special from Step2 records bosses Dj Pencil And Dj Severe, where they played loads of exclusive tracks , some old school bangers and a whole day of quality music.
Step2 Records Presents appeared at the festival on Friday 16th August 2024 .
